Peak watts aren't watts
Ninja quotes peak wattage; Vitamix and Breville quote continuous. A 1,400W peak Ninja sustains far less power than a 1,380W continuous Vitamix, so the bigger number on the box is often the weaker motor.
The 20.5-inch jar
Full-size 64+ oz blenders need 8-12 inches of vertical clearance, and the Vitamix 5200's jar is 20.5 inches tall — it does not fit under a standard 18-inch upper cabinet with the lid on. We check cabinet fit on every pick.
Hot soup is not universal
Blending above 170°F is manufacturer-approved only on Vitamix, the Breville Super Q and Blendtec. Every other model here — including the 1,800W Ninjas — is a cold-only machine, whatever the wattage says.
