SIZED FOR TWO
The most compact certified option in the field — built for one-to-two-person apartments, not a family's daily volume.
NO PLASTIC
Glass carafe on the finished-water side — the purified water never sits in plastic.
CERTIFIED REMOVAL
NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 58 and 401 certified — removes 84 contaminants including PFOA/PFOS, lead and microplastics.
TOP-SCORED
9.57 overall at Water Filter Guru — the highest score of any countertop RO they tested.
LOW WATER WASTE
4:1 pure-to-wastewater — half the brine of a 2:1 Waterdrop A1, on the same RO engine as the Classic.
RENTER-SAFE
WiFi filter tracking, plug-and-play — no drilling, no under-sink install.

The catch — co-equal billing, always

Every glass costs more. Filters run ~$0.19 per gallon against ~$0.11 for the AquaTru Classic and ~$0.10 for the Aigerri — the carafe's smaller cartridges empty faster. Its Amazon listing was also "Currently unavailable" at verification; AquaTru sells mostly direct.

Dealbreaker? Runner-up №1 is the same RO with a bigger tank at ~$0.11/gal ↓

Every product has a catch. Verdicts that hide it are how bad buys happen.

Traps — this verdict avoids

Trap 01

Certification theater

"NSF/ANSI 372 certified" means the plastics are safe — it says nothing about contaminant removal. Only AquaTru (42/53/58/401/P473) and RKIN (P473) carry genuine third-party performance certs; everyone else is merely "tested to" NSF standards.

Trap 02

The brine bill

Pure-to-wastewater ratios run from 5:1 down to 1:1. A 1:1 unit (RKIN U1, some Bluevua configs) dumps a gallon of brine for every gallon you drink — roughly double the source water of a 4:1 AquaTru or 5:1 Aigerri.

Trap 03

Filters outrun the sticker

Replacement cartridges are proprietary and cost $0.08–$0.27 per gallon, or $60–$150 a year. Over three years that gap routinely exceeds the upfront price difference between two units — the cheap one often ends up costing more.
