Zones aren't the same at every size
Dimming zone count varies dramatically by screen size inside one model line — a 55-inch may carry 504 zones where the 75-inch has 900+. Below ~500 zones you get visible blooming around bright objects on dark backgrounds. The review you read may not describe the size you're buying.
The nit number is a 2% window
Peak brightness is measured on a 2-10% window, not a full screen. Full-screen sustained brightness is typically 40-60% lower, so a "5,000-nit" TV never puts 5,000 nits on a white field.
Buying at launch costs a third
Launch MSRPs run 30-50% above the street price 3-6 months later. The TCL QM8L fell from $2,499 in April to ~$1,500 by late July — a 40% cut in one quarter. Waiting a quarter after a Mini LED launch is worth roughly a third of the purchase price.
