SureFlap Pet Door Connect
no budget ceiling
Four review sites converge on it — it reads your pet's implanted microchip, needs no collar, learns up to 32 pets, and logs every entry to the app.

■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
The app costs extra. At $255 you get the door, not the Hub — and without the Hub there is no app, no logs, no remote lock, no intruder alerts. The with-Hub bundle has been intermittently out of stock through mid-2026, so plan on a second purchase.
Dealbreaker? Runner-up №1 puts the Wi-Fi in the door itself — no Hub to buy ↓

The 40-pound wall
No microchip-reading door exists for large breeds. The flaps cap at 13-15 lb, and the biggest one tops out at ~40 lb. Above that it's RFID collar keys, a motorized Power Pet, or Wayzn — nothing else. We size every pick against its stated ceiling.
The app is a second purchase
Connected SKUs carry a $50-150 premium over the same door without Wi-Fi, and SureFlap's app needs a separately-sold Hub on top of the $255 door. Every app model also needs a 2.4 GHz SSID — 5 GHz-only and mesh setups fail.
The hole is the hard part
Wall installs need a tunnel kit sold separately plus cutting through studs and siding — budget $100-300 for a contractor. Motorized doors also need mains AC at the opening, and Wayzn only clamps to a sliding-glass-door track.
