BEST PANEL HERE
Class-leading OLED evo with α9 Gen8 — the cheapest way into a premium OLED with a light ad load.
MOVIE NIGHT
Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos — the ~$2,498 Samsung S95F still does not support Dolby Vision.
ADS STAY BACK
LG's ads are "just suggested content… not invasive and don't cause any problems" per Product Analyst — webOS 25 is second-lightest after Sony.
KILL THE TRACKING
Live Plus is LG's ACR and ships on — one toggle in Settings, versus opt-outs buried 4–7 menus deep elsewhere.
PRICE
$1,398 — down from a 2025 Amazon all-time low of $1,697, and ~$1,600 under the Sony Bravia 8 II.

The catch — co-equal billing, always

Sony's ads are cleaner and cost the same. webOS puts banner ads in the content store and home menu, and serves pause-screen ads Sony doesn't. At an identical ~$1,398 the Bravia 5 is level on price — so you're buying the OLED panel and paying for it in ad load.

Dealbreaker? Runner-up №1 is the same price with the lightest ad load ↓

Traps — this verdict avoids

Trap 01

The ad-free TV doesn't exist

No mainstream smart TV ships ad-free in 2026. Google TV added autoplay banner ads to its once ad-free 'apps-only' mode in late 2025 — FlatpanelsHD found they physically push app icons off the screen. RTINGS still rates Sony the lightest, but lightest is not zero.

Trap 02

ACR watches every frame

Automatic Content Recognition ships ON by default on Samsung, LG, Vizio, Roku, TCL and Hisense — it reads every frame on screen, even from external HDMI sources, and the opt-out is buried 4–7 menus deep under names like 'Viewing Information Services' or 'Live Plus'.

Trap 03

The reset that doesn't stick

A factory reset clears personalised ads only for a moment — owners report they return within 24–72 hours of internet-connected use as the platform rebuilds an ad profile. Only an offline panel, or a panel with no OS, has nothing to rebuild.
