On April 19, 2026 Meta raised the Quest 3 by $100 (to $599.99) and both Quest 3S configs by $50, citing the global DRAM shortage. More XR2 Gen 2 headsets may follow through H2 2026 — the price you saw last year is gone.
Two-hour battery ceiling
Every standalone headset runs just 2-3 hours on a charge — a marathon session needs an external battery pack or wall power. Once you actually wear it, weight and comfort matter more than a spec-sheet resolution number.
Waiting for Steam Frame
Valve's Steam Frame still has no price and no open pre-orders as of late July 2026 (analyst estimates $899-$1,199) and has not shipped. Don't hold out for a headset you can't buy — a shipping Quest does more today.
