■ The catch — co-equal billing, always
You are mostly paying for the app. At $539 it costs $239 more than the Grizzl-E Classic, and most EVs accept only 32-40A AC onboard — on those cars the extra amperage buys no real speed. The premium is software and flexibility, not charging time.

Traps — this verdict avoids
The 48-amp trap
Charging speed is capped by the car's onboard charger, not the wall unit. Many EVs accept only 32A (7.7 kW) or 40A (9.6 kW) AC — on those cars a 48A charger adds zero real-world speed. Match the charger to the car, not the marketing.
The tax credit is gone
The federal 30C credit — 30% of cost, up to $1,000 — expired June 30, 2026, with no extension pending. A charger placed in service after that date gets nothing federally. Budget the full hardware plus install cost and check state/utility rebates instead.
The install costs more than the charger
Hardware is $300–$800, but professional installation runs $800–$3,000 depending on panel capacity and cable run — often more than the unit itself. Plug-in NEMA 14-50 models sidestep part of that bill; anything above 48A must be hardwired.
