UNDER $250
$224 typical — about 20% off its $280 list, and $176 below the cheapest responsive bassinet you can actually buy.
SAFE SLEEP
Flat, firm mattress and breathable mesh sides meet every AAP safe-sleep rule — which is the entire job of a bassinet.
BEST-RATED BASSINET
Consumer Reports' top overall bassinet pick — 4.7 stars across 1,000+ reviews.
NO HIDDEN COSTS
No app, no subscription, no proprietary swaddle — where the SNOO bills SNOO Premium after 9 months and the Starling's CryAssist after 6.
SAME USABLE WINDOW
Rated to ~20 lb — the same runway as smart models costing $400-$1,695, which mostly stop at 20-25 lb or ~6 months.

The catch — co-equal billing, always

It does nothing. No motion, no white noise, no cry detection, no camera — it is a safe place to put the baby and nothing else. If what you are actually buying is a machine that rocks your newborn back to sleep at 3am, this is not it.

Traps — this verdict avoids

Trap 01

The six-month cliff

Every model here but one is infant-only: SNOO and 4moms stop at 25 lb, the Gracos, Starling and HALO at 20 lb / 3-5 months. Only the Cradlewise reaches 24 months. You are buying about half a year of use.

Trap 02

Translating isn't soothing

"Smart" covers two different products. The SNOO and Gracos *act* on a cry; the Maxi-Cosi Starling's CryAssist AI only *tells you why* baby is crying — and it has repriced to ~$950-$1,099, near-SNOO money for a bassinet you still work yourself.

Trap 03

Smart is not safe

No smart bassinet detects or prevents SIDS. Only the SNOO's claim is FDA-reviewed and it is a De Novo authorization for back-sleeping, not SIDS prevention — and it only holds with the proprietary SNOO Sack clipped in. AAP rules apply to all of them.
