Fit ledger — need → measured evidence

DEEP GROUT AND TILE
Industrial-strength pressurized steam and a 40-piece accessory kit built for grout, tile and upholstery.
NO REFILL BREAKS
1600 ml tank — the longest uninterrupted run of anything here except the McCulloch canister.
WHOLE HOME, NOT JUST FLOORS
Attachments cover grout, upholstery, tile and cars, and swap without tools.
CHEMICAL-FREE SANITIZING
Manufacturer testing claims it kills up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses with water alone.
MONEY IS NOT THE CAP
~$260 — a third of the Tineco hybrid's ~$699, and it cleans harder.

The catch — co-equal billing, always

You wait about 8 minutes for steam. The pressurized boiler is exactly why it cleans harder — and exactly why it's useless for a 2-minute spill. Head pivoting is limited too: this is a deep-clean machine, not a quick-pass floor mop.

Traps — this verdict avoids

Trap 01

Sealed floors only

Steam is safe on sealed hardwood, tile, laminate, vinyl and stone — and nowhere else. On unsealed or engineered wood, 200°F+ steam warps the boards and dulls waxed finishes. Verify the seal before you buy anything here.

Trap 02

The 15-minute tank

Upright tanks hold only ~350-500 ml, which caps continuous cleaning at roughly 12-20 minutes before a refill. Canisters (Dupray 1600 ml, McCulloch ~1900 ml) run far longer but make you wait 8-12 minutes for steam.

Trap 03

Hard water kills mops

Mineral scale from tap water shortens a steam mop's life. Most uprights require distilled water; only canisters and descaling-filter models tolerate the tap. Budget for jugs of distilled water, or buy the filter.
